On Wednesday, April 18th, 2007, in the spirit of the PLSB Strategic Plan, the Association of BC Public Library Directors (ABCPLD) endorsed a proposal to:

1. Pilot the Evergreen open ILS software in BC, and
2. Strike an ILS Advisory Committee to manage a consortial installation of the Evergreen ILS in BC

Two years later, there are twenty-eight sites live (and counting) on Sitka's Evergreen instance and the BC Libraries Cooperative is operational as Sitka's governing body.

This ambitious initiative is truly a collaborative effort - libraries can do so much more collectively than any one library can do individually!

Here are some links and a listserv that help facilitate discussion around Evergreen within BC. As well, a set of Evergreen Talking Points has been compiled to help inform library boards and staff about the initiative.
